My Mindful Morning Routine: Week days

I am determined to create my own perfect morning routine. Right now I have a few determining factors that limit my flexibility of time however I will play with it until it works. I wanted to experiment and choose 3 words I would to describe my ideal mornings. I think the 3 to personally choose are mindful, fresh, and alignment.

Mindful: I used to wake up with a panic. I would run around and attempt to fit in 100 tasks into one hour instead of feeling out what makes me most happy in the morning. I would get to work feeling anxious, unprepared, and disappointed because I would not be able to complete my very detailed morning tasks. I want my mornings to be a time to inner body awareness and peace of mind. I find it important to stay away from social media, the news, and even your messages because they demand your attention and you have no control over the type of information comes at you- good or bad.

Fresh: My aim every morning is to be clean and look clean. I usually do not wear too much make up to the office when I do it is more on the natural side. I feel like the mornings are no place for a bold lip… especially before coffee. However, I do have a little travel pack to freshen up and sometimes will add that lip later on in the day. While showering I will also do a little mindful meditation to cleanse the stresses or worries I may have woken up with.

Alignment: I want my mornings to be aligned in the way that I want to feel the free flow of energy all the way reach my desk at the office. Even on the one-hour (sometimes hour and a half) drive to work, I sometimes will listen to podcasts, a book, or even affirmations to jolt inspiration and motivation. Even while I walk to the office from my car, I make sure to observe and try to keep that calm center before that work day begins.

So with that said, let me tell you what my current morning routine is:

  1. Wake up
  2. Drink tall glass of water
  3. Short yoga or stretch
  4. Quick Shower/mindful meditation
  5. Eat breakfast/ prepare coffee
  6. Get dressed/ natural makeup
  7. Get in car- listen to inspirational & motivational media
  8. Walk mindfully to the office

I need to be consistent and really work on fine tuning this routine. To me it looks much more simplified then those I have created before. I will update and review how it is working because I think it is important for us all to share how we are tackling this busy world.

Next, I will work on my evening routine which will ultimately make my morning routine much better… as everyone knows a good morning is prepared the night before.

What 3 words would you describe your ideal morning? Do you have any tips or tricks you would like to share?

I would love to get feedback from you! Please do not hesitate to comment below!

With Gratitude,

Mary

The Starting Point

Hello out there!

For the past 3 years have been building a foundation to creating the lifestyle that is filled with purpose and peace. My struggle has been trying to identify who I am. What box do I fit into? The answer to that question was never answered because there is no answer, for anyone in fact. Being aware gives you power and with that power you can be the best version of yourself.

After I graduated university, I had quite the reality check as I joined the working force and got married. For me this was switching from living with my parents and summer vacations to being a wife and starting the work grind. By working on my habits, practicing mindfulness, and looking inwards I was able to handle any and all challenges. Now I am ready to come out from under my shell and start living life purposefully.

For the remainder of August my goals are:

  1. Create a morning routine
  2. Create an evening routine
  3. Goal plan for the month of September
  4. Meditate daily
  5. Create a life wheel
  6. Create a vision board
  7. Read or hear one book

Since it is close to the end of the month, I want to use this the rest of August to reflect and reassess what my goals should be for September. I have completed large goals that I made in January which I am very proud of. I completed and received a certificate in holistic nutrition, went to Portugal and Amsterdam, and saw Aerosmith live, and moved into a new apartment with my husband. So in a way I am starting a new chapter but with confidence that dreams do come true…

Okay, I am ready.
